Hi everyone, it's Linh. |
Xin chào các bạn, tôi là Linh. |
Welcome to the Whiteboard Lessons. |
In this lesson, |
I'm going to introduce to you how to give your email in Vietnamese. |
In particular, I'm going to introduce you |
how to read the alphabet in a Vietnamese way. |
And also, of course, we're going to go through the vocabulary, |
the sentence pattern, the grammar points, and also some cultural points. |
Are you ready? |
Let's get started. |
Welcome to the vocabulary part. |
Let's take a look at the alphabet and see how we pronounce all the letters. |
All right. |
The first one, you see the letters in blue, |
those are the English alphabet, right? |
And the letters in black, |
those are the Vietnamese pronunciation. |
So let's go through each of them. |
a |
bê |
xê |
dê |
e |
ép |
gờ |
hát |
i ngắn |
It means short E. |
di |
ca |
lờ |
mờ |
Next one. |
nờ |
o |
Your mouth has to be like this. |
o |
pê |
qui |
rờ |
ét |
tê |
u |
Pay attention on the form of your mouth. |
u |
vê |
vê kép |
That means W. |
vê kép |
ích |
y dài |
That means long E. So here we have ingắn and y dài |
and the last one |
dét |
Also we have at. |
So in Vietnamese, we will say |
a coùg |
or a mờc |
because this looks like a hook. |
a mờc |
And also the dot, we have |
chám |
Okay, clear |
Now let's go through all of them one more time. |
a |
bê |

dê |
e |

hát |
i ngắn |
di |

a coùg |
a mờc |
chám |
Very good. Now let's move on to the next part, dialogue. |
Welcome to the dialogue. |
When I read, I would like you to pay attention to how to give your email in Vietnamese. |
And let's see if you can find the vocabulary in the dialogue. |
First one, let's talk about the question. |
If you want to ask for someone's email, you will say |
xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chi? |
So this is a formal way to ask for someone's email. |
Xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chi? |
And how do we respond to that? |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là hát a nờ hát a cong innolang chám com. |
Now let's go through the meaning of the dialogue that we mentioned before. |
Xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chị? |
Xin vui lòng It means please. |
Cho biết. |
To know. |
Địa chỉ email. |
That means email address. |
Địa chỉ means address. |
Của is like of or belong to. |
So we have của chị. |
It means your or of yours. |
Xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chị? |
Technically it means please can I know your email address. |
So we have your email address please. Okay |
Xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chị. |
And how about the response? |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là hát a nờ hát a cong innolang chám com. |
We have địa chỉ which means address. |
Email. |
Của tôi. |
My. |
Là. |
Is. |
And then you put the email. |
Xin vui lòng cho biết địa chỉ email của chị? |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là hát a nờ hát a cong innolang chám com. |
Welcome back. |
Now let's take a look at the sentence pattern. |
This pattern will be the structure that all of our dialogue follows. |
Remember that our topic is how to give your email in Vietnamese. Right? |
So don't worry much about the question. |
You just need to remember how to answer. |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
We have địa chỉ email của tôi. |
This is a subject. |
Là is a verb. |
And then email. |
You put your email address there. |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
Which means my email address is. |
And then you put the email. |
Easy right? |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
Something something. |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
That's it. Now let's move on to the last part which is the grammar point. |
Here in this lesson I'm going to introduce you |
three grammar points which will be very useful in the future lessons as well. |
The first one we have. |
của |
It means of or belong to. |
So basically if you want to make a possessive pronoun you will use. |
của |
And then you put the pronoun after that. |
For example. |
của tôi |
của chỉ |
And this one indicates ownership. Okay |
của |
The second one we have. |
tôi |
It means I and basically this is the first person singular pronoun. |
Remember that we use tôi for people who are like the same age with you. |
Or friends, colleagues, acquaintances. |
But for older people we don't really say that |
because it doesn't sound very respectful. |
But in this lesson it's going to be |
one of the most basic lessons so we just focus on the most common pronoun. |
tôi |
And the third one we have. |
là |
You see here we have. |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
So this one means to be verb. |
And it is used to link the subject |
chư ngữ |
and the predicate. |
vi ngữ |
We have subject |
chư ngữ |
predicate. |
vi ngữ |
So that plays a role as the connection, a linking word. Okay |
chư ngữ là vi ngữ |
For example here we have |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
is a subject, right? |
Là is a verb |
and email is a predicate. |
So we have the structure subject, |
verb and then predicate. |
It's pretty similar to English, right? |
Because this is one of the most basic sentences. |
Địa chỉ email của tôi là. |
And then you put the email. |
