Hello listeners! So do you know what left and right is in Vietnamese? Any funny experiences with directions?

Hi David,

Thanks for your comment. When it comes to directions, "ở bên trái" is as commonly used among local people ás "ở bên tay trái", similarly to "ở bên phải" and "ở bên tay phải". Hope this helps and let us know if there is anything else we can help explain or clarify.

Sincerely,

Khanh

Seems I've always heard it as ở bên trái/phải, without the "tay".

Hi Aidriano,

We've updated the PDF lesson notes so that it matches with the audio.

Thank you,

Jae

Hi Aidriano,

Thank you for your comment. Our team will adjust the content of the word "to turn".

Both words "quẹo" and "rẽ" are equivalent of "to turn". The difference is:

"quẹo" is usually used in the Middle and the South of Vietnam.

"rẽ" is usually used in the North.

So in terms of grammar and meaning, these words are interchangeable, but we recommend you to choose the suitable word for the region where the person who you are talking with comes from.

For example, to say "turn right" :

- People in the Middle and the South say: "Quẹo phải"

- People in the North say: "Rẽ phải"

This tip will be useful and makes it more easy to communicate when you travel across Vietnam.

Cheers,

Huyen

As there is again a discrepancy between the lesson notes and the audio - this time quẹo (notes) versus rẽ (audio) - could you please advise if these words are interchangeable?

Something wrong with the audio track? It cuts out at around 55 seconds.
