Can you tell us what else do you think is very common in a Vietnamese home?

Hi Carl,

Thank you very much for your comments.

You're right, the order of "sập" and "giường" in the lesson notes were not correct. Let us correct this soon.

The reason why you didn't see any "sập" because it is not popular these days."Sập" is a large wooden bed, often without legs and it is very cool to lie on in summer. That kind of bed was commonly used in the past and almost all homes had one. Nowadays, Vietnamese people prefer Western style, Korean style beds because they go better with the architecture of a modern house. But some families still like antique atmosphere so they keep such furniture as "sập" in their home. You may be able to see "sập" in the countryside of Vietnam. I hope you'll have a chance to see it in the next time you visit Vietnam.

Cheers,

Giang

Hi, I think sập and giường are switched in the lesson materials.

I don't think I saw any (sập) in the homes I visited in Hanoi, but everyone had fans (quạt?) and at least one xe máy :-)
