We've been studying together for like four or five years, right? |
And even my Vietnamese teaching improved a lot, thanks to you. |
And in this video today, we're going to talk about a very interesting topic, |
which is relationship. |
What are some words, some terms that we can use when |
being in a relationship with a Vietnamese? |
And let's find out what they are. |
Who's single here? |
Raise your hand. |
So if you're single, we can say |
Thân, độc thân, okay? |
So độc thân is simply being single. |
So if you want to say you're not married yet, we can say |
In sentence |
So you see here that we don't use to be verb. |
Next one, if you are getting to know someone in Vietnamese, we can say |
Or another word that we can also use is |
In sentence |
They are getting to know each other. |
Next one, we got |
means in a relationship or dating in sentence |
means how long have you guys been dating? |
If you want to say to hang out together, we say |
means you just simply hang out together, or you go out on a date, or you go out to have some fun together, just |
In sentence |
If you want to say you have feelings with someone, in Vietnamese we can say |
Here means feelings, but you also can use |
Here means love, but it doesn't quite mean love yet. |
It's just like you have some feelings for someone. |
In sentence |
I also have some feelings for him or I also have some feelings with him. |
So in Vietnamese means with. |
You're sharing that you have something for someone and it's just not quite clear yet, something like that. |
In sentence |
That means Nam likes Phuong for a while. |
The classic one, I love you in Vietnamese is |
depends on who you are, you have to use a proper pronoun, remember that, okay? |
Next one, if you are in a relationship and you say that I have a boyfriend, you can say |
For example, I have a boyfriend |
If you kind of want to say no to a girl as you are in a relationship already, you can say |
This is what we usually use in Vietnamese when we want to say no to a girl. |
Sorry, you're good, but I have a girlfriend. |
If you're not ready for a relationship yet, we can say |
I'm not ready for a relationship. |
So in sentence |
Now let's go fast. |
Now if you want to say you commit to a relationship, we say |
The funny thing is in Vietnam, we don't really use the word |
a lot because it's not really a kind of our culture. |
When we are in a relationship, we just say I love you and I love you back. |
That is like a sign of having a committed relationship. |
Now if you want to say that you're crazy in love with someone, we say |
to love |
At some point, you'll be fighting or you have some arguments, right? |
So in Vietnamese, we say |
means argue. |
Another word that you can use is |
We can also use |
fight each other. |
In sentence |
means they've been fighting for a week. |
Now after fighting, you'll be making up, you'll be patching up, so in Vietnamese, we say |
means have you patched up with her? |
So in Vietnamese, we say |
She's been breaking up with her boyfriend for two years. |
Long. |
Sometimes you get back together after a breakup, right? |
In Vietnamese, we say |
means to get back to someone |
If you want to say engage or to be engaged in Vietnamese, we say |
and engagement is |
But before that, it has to be a proposal, right? |
So we say |
means to propose, okay? |
means to get married |
If you want to say that I'm married, we say |
is a wedding |
and the verb marry is |
is like an event and |
a wedding |
What else? |
is a divorce, okay? |
That's pretty much everything from getting to know each other to a divorce, |
but we still can anytime, right? |
If we still love each other, let me know what you think at the comment below |
