| There will be many times when the Vietnamese around you is coming at you fast and furious and you may not be able to catch it all or any of it. In instanances like this, asking the speaker to say it again will help you with learning Vietnamese. You will also get a better feel for the language and tune your ear, so you should use the following phrases over and over. |
| The most basic way to ask someone to please repeat is - Xin nói lại. |
| Again, Xin nói lại. |
| Let’s break this down by syllable: Xin nói lại. |
| The first word, xin should found familiar. It is said in the flat tone and means “please.” |
| Once again, xin. |
| And xin. |
| Thios is followed by nói. Nói means "to speak" and is said in the rising tone. |
| So let’s practice it again, nói. |

| This phrase ends with lại, which means “again”. |

| It’s said in the sharp falling tone. |

| To ask someone to "Please say it again slowly," you just have to change the previous phrase slightly. To say “Please say it again slowly,” in Vietnamese, you would use the phrase - Xin nói chậm lại. |
