| In today’s lesson, we'll introduce you to a phrase that will provide you with the tools to learn from the people around you. Today, we're gonna to cover a way for you to hold on to the information you get. |
| In Vietnamese "Can you write it down, please?" is Xin viết giùm. |
| Xin viết giùm |
| Let’s break this down by syllable: Xin viết giùm. |
| Now, let’s hear it once again, Xin viết giùm. |
| The first word, xin, means "please" and has no tone. |
| Once again, xin. |

| This is followed by viết. |
| viết |
| Viết in Vietnamese means "to write" and is said in the broken rising tone. |

| So to recap, we have Xin viết. |

| Literally, this means "please write." |
| The last word, giùm, literally means “help” and is a very polite way of asking somebody for a favor. |
| Giùm falls gradually and usually comes after a verb. |
| So all together, we have Xin viết giùm. |

| Literally, this phrase means “Please do me a favor and write,” but we translate it as “Can you write it down, please?” |
| Another way to say “Can you write it down, please?” is by replacing the word xin with the phrase làm ơn. |
