I still don't understand how to use word lists and flash cards. How do I put words from a lesson into word list and or flash cards. Thanks

Chào Giang,

Thank you very much for this explanation! I do understand now. I can't wait until I know more Vietnamese so I can say all this without English :thumbsup:

Cảm ơn,

Nick

Chào Nick,

"market" can be translated as "chợ" (which refers to the outdoor market where fresh food is sold) or "thị trường" (which refers to a business term, such as ASEAN market, American market etc).

In your case, I think you want to mention "market" with the first meaning, don't you? Like, "Ở chợ có bán trái cây."

If you say, "Ở thị trường có bán trái cây", it does not make sense.

I hope you got the meaning of the word "market" now.

Have a nice day,

Giang

Cảm ơn Giang!

I really appreciate all your help in learning Vietnamese. I think I understand the confusion with this question now. In another lesson "trường" was taught as meaning "market"...this is also what Bing translator says, so I didn't really mean to say "school". It was a lucky guess indeed! In the lesson I studied today, the word "trường" was taught as meaning school...is there a case where this word can mean either school or market depending on context?

Chào Nick,

Oh now I see what you meant by "ở trường". But fruits are actually sold at school canteen in Vietnam too , so your guess was perfect.

Keep up with your study and feel free to ask me anything about Vietnamese or Vietnam.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Chúc vui vẻ,

Chào Giang,

I had a feeling my word order may have been a little off, so thanks for helping me! I'm just learning here with you all in my spare time, so "ở trường” was my best guess based on what I've learned here so far. I still have much to learn but I'm committed

Chào Nick,

Your answer is great.

To make it more natural, you can change the order of words like this: Ở trường có bán trái cây.

There are other places where fruits are sold such as ở siêu thị (at supermarket) or ở chợ (outdoor market).

Are you studying or teaching at a school? (I'm asking this because you said "ở trường" in your answer)

See you later,

Giang

Xin chào,

I'll try to answer using only words I've learned so far so this may be abit rough:

Có bán trái cây ở trường

I'm sure it sounds like white man's Vietnamese, but I'm learning fast
