John: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "I'm glad."
Nguyet : Tôi rất vui
John: The first word meaning “I” is a general personal pronoun in Vietnamese. However, depending on the context, the pronoun should be changed in both formal and informal cases. For example, if Phát is talking to his friend, he might say...
Nguyet : Tớ/ Mình rất vui.
John: ...meaning "I am glad." Listen again - "I'm glad" is...
Nguyet : (SLOW) Tôi rất vui (REGULAR) Tôi rất vui
John: Then comes the phrase - "because we had nice seats at the concert."
Nguyet : vì chúng tôi có chỗ ngồi tốt trong buổi hòa nhạc.
John: In Vietnamese, an adjective is attached after a noun to modify it. As we can see in the phrase…
Nguyet : chỗ ngồi
John: ...meaning "seat," a noun, plus
Nguyet : tốt
John: ...meaning "good." All together we’ll get “good, nice seat.” Listen again - "because we had nice seats at the concert" is...
Nguyet : (SLOW) vì chúng tôi có chỗ ngồi tốt trong buổi hòa nhạc. (REGULAR) vì chúng tôi có chỗ ngồi tốt trong buổi hòa nhạc.
John: All together, it's "I'm glad we had nice seats at the concert."
Nguyet : Tôi rất vui vì chúng tôi có chỗ ngồi tốt trong buổi hòa nhạc.
