I'm so happy to see you guys again in Vietnam because I was traveling a little bit.

But today I'm going to share with you some vocabulary or phrases

that you can use to talk about watching videos online.

So let's see what we got.

Right. So today I'm not going to share with you like a list of vocabulary.

It's not going to be like too practical,

but instead I'm going to share with you like how to use some related vocabulary in sentences.

And I'm going to break down the sentences so that you know some vocabulary like outside of the topic.

All right. So let's start with watching videos online.

In Vietnamese we say

So basically we use video as video and

as online.

However, nowadays like a lot of people have been using online as well.

So we can actually say

All right. So now let's talk about pronunciation.

For example, in English we say

We have like a very tiny ending sound.

But in Vietnamese, we don't really have that end sound at the end of the word.

So we say

Something like that.

And it's the same with like other words.

We don't have ending sounds at all.

So just sharing.

So if you don't want your Vietnamese sounds very hard to understand

or you just want to sound more natural, then just remove the ending sounds.

Right. Aside from videos, we also have movies, right?

And in Vietnamese we say

This is like a borrowing word from French, from film as well, right?

So instead of saying

We can say

Another word for online, we can also use

So we can either use

Same video chụp tuyến or same video trên mạng

Same phim chụp tuyến or same phim trên mạng

All right. In sentence

That means he normally watches online movies on his day off.

Right. So we can either use online chụp tuyến or trên mạng

The next one, if you want to talk about genres, then you can use

Thể loại

All right. So thể loại means a genre or a type or a kind.

Okay. Thể loại. Right.

So we have

Thể loại phim

means different kinds of movie or movies, genres or

Thể loại video

Video genres, right?

All right.

Yêu thích của em là gì?

Thể loại phim yêu thích của em là gì?

means what is your favorite genre of movie or what is your favorite movie genre?

Okay.

So here you will see yêu thích means favorite.

So we don't use as in English, but instead it's after the noun

Phim yêu thích

So we don't say favorite movie, right?

Phim yêu thích

So yêu thích here plays a role as an adjective.

Also, you will see the possessive here

Của em

Của em means your, right?

And it will be also like behind the noun.

So thể loại phim yêu thích của em là gì?

Action movies

Now let's talk about some genres.

In English, we have action movies, right?

So in Vietnamese, you can say

Phim hành động

Phim hành động means action movie and in sentence

Tôi bị nghiện phim hành động

means I'm addicted to action movies.

Bị nghiện here means to be addicted to something, right?

And tôi bị nghiện phim hành động

I'm addicted to action movies.

The next genre is comedy.

And in Vietnamese, we say

It sounds like when you say hi

but with the low tone

So hài

Phim hài

Comedy movie

Or video hài

Video hài, comedy videos

In sentence

Hai miền Nam rất buồn cười

Hai miền Nam rất buồn cười means southern comedy is super hilarious

Hai miền Nam rất buồn cười

Yeah, it's true because

Yeah, it's true because we have different culture from the north to the south

And if in the north, our comedy videos or movies are a little bit different

It's still funny, however, it also has some layers of education

However, in the south of Vietnam

When the artists play a comedy video or comedy movie

It just sounds funny and it's just so hilarious

And it makes you laugh immediately with some very silly things

So that's the difference between southern comedy and northern comedy

What is the next one?

Right, next one we have

Phim bộ means drama

So in sentence

Đặt câu means in sentence

Các bà nội chợ rất đam mê phim bộ

Các bà nội chợ rất đam mê phim bộ means housewives are so passionate about dramas

So here you see

Các bà nội chợ means housewives

And bà here means grandmother, right?

But it doesn't mean that housewives are old or something

It just means female in general

Các bà nội chợ

And also đam mê is a noun but it also can play as an adjective

So when you say rất đam mê that means they are passionate about something

Phim bộ here can be dramas in general but can also be specifically Korean dramas

Các bà nội chợ rất đam mê phim bộ

Right, we have another kind of video that is super super popular in Vietnam

Video dài chí

Video dài chí means entertainment videos

So nowadays young people watch entertainment videos

Video dài chí a lot, like literally every day, every single hour

So đặt câu

means like I'm really into surfing TikTok for entertainment videos

So here you see an adverb

cực kỳ means extremely or like really very cực kỳ

lướt tiktok means like to surf TikTok

or it sounds like to surf the internet or like to be online

lướt tiktok để xem means like to watch

but like in the whole sentence we can use

we can understand it as like I'm really into surfing TikTok for entertainment videos

Right, now next one

If you want to watch videos online, of course you need an application

So in Vietnamese we say ứng dụng

or maybe you either need a website

and in Vietnamese we also say website so I'm not gonna talk about it too clearly

Right, ứng dụng

So đặt câu

Vietnamese accent

Netflix là một trong những ứng dụng nổi tiếng nhất để xem phim

So here you see a grammar point

one of the or like among the something

So in Vietnamese we say một trong những

một trong những means like one of the like numbers of something

một trong những ứng dụng

here means applications

and instead of putting S at the end of the word we use like a word

we use like a separate word to play a role as something in plural

Right, Netflix là một trong những ứng dụng phổ biến nhất or nổi tiếng nhất để xem phim

Next one if you want to watch movie in Netflix or any other platforms

we need an account right and in Vietnamese we say

we say

So here can be used as like any kind of accounts

bank accounts, Facebook account or anything

Right, in sentence

Bạn cần mở một tài khoản nếu muốn xem phim trực tuyến

means you need to open an account if you want to watch movies online

Right, so here we have mở một tài khoản means to open an account

and bạn cần means you need

So we also have a video talking about need in Vietnamese so let's check it out
