Cultural Insight
Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Hoang Anh: "Waiter or waitress" is bồi bàn in Vietnamese. But in a restaurant, we just say “Hey you” or Em ơi. Em, meaning "you", is a pronoun used for a younger person and ơi is used to call someone. Most waiters and waitresses in Vietnam are younger, which is why they use this. If they look older, then Chị ơi for a woman, and Anh ơi for a man, is used.

Outro

Eric: And that’s all for this lesson. Don’t forget to check out the lesson notes, and we’ll see you in the next lesson!
Hoang Anh: Tạm biệt.
