Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Vietnamese Season 1, Lesson 1 - Self Introduction. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to introduce yourself in Vietnamese.

Eric: Here's the formal way to say "Hello, my name is Giang." in Vietnamese.
Hoang Anh: [Normal] Xin chào, tôi tên là Giang.
Eric: First is an expression meaning "Hello” or “Hi"
Hoang Anh: [Normal] Xin chào [Slow] Xin chào
Eric: Next is the pronoun meaning "I"
Hoang Anh: [Normal] tôi [Slow] tôi
Eric: Next is the noun meaning "name"
Hoang Anh: [Normal] tên [Slow] tên
Eric: Next is the verb meaning "to be"

Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Hoang Anh: Vietnamese people aren’t used to touching when meeting each other... so I don’t recommend kissing or hugging. BUT business people and male friends do shake hands. When meeting a Vietnamese person for the first time, just introducing yourself with a smile is the best way to go.
